Country Hub
United States
The Kurdish American diaspora is concentrated in Nashville, Tennessee (the largest community, estimated at 10,000–15,000), followed by San Diego, California; Lincoln, Nebraska; Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston, Texas; and Modesto, California. Turning introductions into real support, collaboration, and opportunity.
Kurdish Students in the United States
Nashville's Kurdish community, sometimes called "Little Kurdistan," has grown since the 1990s and operates community centers, mosques, and cultural organizations. The American Kurdish Information Network (AKIN) in Washington D.C. advocates for Kurdish rights at the federal level.
Kurdish students in the US attend universities across all 50 states. Top research universities, liberal arts colleges, and community colleges each offer distinct pathways. Financial aid for international students is limited at public universities but more widely available at private institutions. The Fulbright Program and university-specific scholarships support students from Kurdish regions.
This hub connects Kurdish students at US universities with each other, with established professionals, and with community organizations across the country. Whether you are at MIT, NYU, Vanderbilt, UW, or anywhere else — there is a Kurdish network ready to support you.
